Upgrade AGPx8 Graphics Card - Will it be worth it

  User-9C711E86-C156-4BE1-A8746A846D0B027D 16:47 30 Apr 2007

Hi All
I have a system running a P4 2.8(533) CPU, 1.5 GB of DDR-400 PC-3200 memory and an Nvidia 6600GT graphics card.
Will I get any real performance gains by upgrading the graphics card to a 7800GS 256MB GDDR3 or will I be restricted by my current CPU?
I know its time to move over to PCI express but that means a new MOBO, MEM, CPU and graphics card.
Im trying to protect my wallet, but this will be the last upgrade this sytem gets.
Thanks Nick

you can get a 7900gs agp or 7950 agp from scan although they are waiting for stock of 7950 agp. these cards will see you for another year then you can upgrade. by then vista should be sorted. there is only one totally dx10 game due, alan wake.
