I have a Pentium 4, I am thinking of upgrading to a 2.93GHz Intel Core Duo X 6800
( advertised in PC Advisor)
Will I have to change my Mother Board or will what I have below suffice?
Is there anything else I have to aware of if I do go ahead and upgrade.

Board: MICRO-STAR INC. MS-6580 20A

Just out of interest, why do you want to change from P4 to the Duo? I doubt you'll see any significant change.

I was under the impression it was a lot faster than a P4

Do you know the speed of your machine? Right click on My Computer and select Properties

Are you using the PC for anything like heavy-duty video/movie editing?

Any improvement will be minimal

Save for an upgrade or new computer after Vista has settled down, say, Autumn 2007
