Upgarding hard drive on laptop

  hunts 13:07 12 Feb 2008

I intend upgrading my dard drive on my Compaq M700. How can I ensure that I do not lose the information on the existing hard drive. In other words how can I transfer details from the old hard drive to the new one?
Many thanks

Theres a program called XXXL Clone I think it is or something similar that is free but I have never used it so don't know how well it works but do have 2 options that do work.

Either buy Acronis Drive Image, about £20 from Amazon or buy a Seagate hard drive and download the Seatools which allow you to backup an entire hard drive onto a new Seagate drive and is free. Also worth mentioning perhaps is that Acronis also wrote the Seagate software.

Thanks to you both. I've ordered Acronis True Image 11 from Amazon and hopefully that does the trick.
