Updates won't install

I'm having trouble with four particular Microsoft security updates. The Yellow shield with black exclamation mark appears in the task stip at the foot of the screen, telling me that security updates are ready and to click to install them. I follow instructions, but the eventual message is always that installation failed. There are two updates for 2007 Office System, one for Office Word 2007 and one for Office Excel 2007. I am running XP Pro, with 64 Gb capacity and 40 Gb spare. It's an annoyance at every switch-on. How can I stop it happening? There seems to be no delete formula. firegamp

Try running them manually from Windows Update.
Then download them one at a time.
It will take longer but have a better chance of installing.
There may just be one of them that is giving you the problem.

It may seem obvious but do you have M$ Office 2007 installed on your PC?
