  iqs 21:18 09 Apr 2008

Hello.I have just replaced a Celeron 2.4 for a P4 2.4.The MB supports this chip,but according to CPU-Z its running at 1.800 MHz,Multiplier 18.0.

So how would I update the BIOS please.Cheers

check click here(V7.3).html to see if the board supports the CPU

im afraid your link is a 404 mate.

if you reset your bios to default settings it should recognise the cpu clock speeds and set them accordingly. At the moment it is seeing the Celeron speeds.

Check your bios for an Auto setting.

Just to double check your cpu, post the numbers on the chip into Google to double check it is what its suppose to be.

Your celeron runs at 400Mhz and your Pent 4 runs at 533mhz. Thats a ratio of 4-3. Alter your fsb in the bios to 533Mhz and the chip will run at 18 multiplier X 133 = 2.4Ghz.

Simple:-)...yeah,for some :-)) never can get my head round the speeds Lol.

Thats the one I checked out. It tells you the core bus speeds that the motherboard supports i.e. 400Mhz and 533Mhz.

all and many thanks for your help.I have reset the BIOS,still stating its a 1.8.I can not find any option in the BIOS to change the bus speed?.
There are jumpers on the MB to set the clock freq.It is set at 100MHz,the other setting is 133MHz.
