update of BIOS

  Newuser2 14:49 22 Sep 2003

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU from P111 500 to a 1.4ghz via a Evergreen or Powerleap as advised in the current edition of PCA.
Trouble is the sites advise me to update the BIOS but which update do I dowmload.
My Motherboard is an ASUS P2B Rev 1xx. Rev 1008
Is there a utility that will advise which update I need.
Any help will be much appreciated.

This is a very old board (1998) are you sure it will support the upgrade you want to do?

click here MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CORRECT FILE please :-)

For the price of the evergreen upgrade you could probably buy a new mobo, CPU and RAM. You could get one of the new 1.6GHz Durons, an Asus nForce 1 mobo (with decent onboard graphics and sound) and 256MB of DDR RAM for around £110.

That was going to be my suggestion as well!

Thanks for all your info.
All the reviews I've seen on the powerleap upgrade are very good.
I've got good sound & graphics cards so I thought a CPU upgrade would do the trick.
I've checked the ASUS web site & located the update for my BIOS all I need know is courage to do it.
Thanks again.
