Unwanted Taskbar icon

Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of an annoying icon - 'Local area Connection' (like the online icon). It is disabled but I don't know how to remove it.

Right click on the taskbar

>>Click properties

>> Click 'Customise next to the 'hide inactive icons' checkbox

>>Find the local area connection icon on the list

>> Select always hide from the dropdown menu beside it.

Hope this helps

Many thanks for your advice. I have done that and it is fine.

But what is the icon? and where did it come from?

The local area connection icon tell you that you are connected up to the internet by ethernet cable. If you had a wireless connection you would also have an icon in task bar showing that

Thanks Postie24
I am on broadband not via ethernet so I don't understand it.
Further, I have turned off the icon successfully several times but it always comes back next time I boot up.
I guess I am stuck with it!!
