Unwanted long lines in WORD

  birdy11 18:25 31 Oct 2007

I typed in three hyphens and pressed RETURN. A dark line the the width of of the page appeared.
I could not type past nor delete it. if I pressed RETURN until it got to the bottom of the page, the line remained at the bottom of the page and another line appeared on the next page.
I would be grateful for any suggestions on getting rid of this line.

This appears to be a sort of AutoCorrect feature.

I had no problem deleting the inserted line (Word 2007).

Thanks to VOG tm for trying. I went back to the previous page and deleted everything from the bottom of that page and the line disappeared wth the following page. I think I am using Office XP

If you select the line above it and then delete it gets rid of it.
