"Unsupported Hard Drive" - Major Problem!

  miner 18:57 09 Mar 2004

I have recently been having trouble when trying to resize a partion using Acronis Partion Expert.

Acronis told me to delete the partition and run fdisk/mbr to clear the problem.

When deleting the partition a dialogue box appeared which said that it was not possible to write to track 0. I, foolishly now it seems, chose to ignore this warning and deleted the partition. As a result the pc cannot boot from the hard disk or from a Windows Start-Up floppy disc.

I have run the Partition Expert Reboot disks but get the following error box - - "Acronis Partition Expert has detected unsupported hard disc drives. Partition Expert does not support Windows Dynamic Discs, E-Z Drives etc"

I now seem to be completely stuck and faced with reformatting the drive which is a real disaster although most of my files are backed up elsewhere.

As I have no access to the pc I'm using my laptop to send this.

Is there anything I can do without reformatting??

Do you have an option to boot with a CD If so, try booting with you OS cd.

I'm afraid booting with the OS CD dosen't work either!
