Unsolicited "IncrediMail" popup

  The Belarussian Mafia 19:15 02 Nov 2006

An "Incredimail" popup has started appearing at every startup on a friend's computer. It is saying that it has not managed to update. Unfortunately, in her effort to get rid of it she pushed the 'update' again, but the message said it had been unsuccessful.

My friend has not downloaded this software and it is not listed in "Add/Remove Programmes". A couple of months ago I installed Spybot Search & Destroy, Adaware & Ewido anti-spyware & these have all been updated & used regularly, as has the Avast anti-virus I also installed.

I've googled Incredimail, and it looks like a legit download, so I presume something is masquerading as that programme. How can we get rid of it?

Hi, yes, Incredimail is normally a legitimate
download. I use Incredimail all the time.

Thanks folks. Hadn't thought of using msconfig - haven't used it since Win 98 days. I'll give it a whirl.
