unreliable connection

  Nale 12:05 28 Nov 2006

We have two computers wirelessly connected to the internet with a Linksys router. One computer sometimes connects and sometimes dosn't for no apparent reason. The other one regularly goes from low signal strength to very good signal strength or no signal strength at all. It can change within a few seconds. Any help would be appreciated as to what to do. What is the hardware setup ie which adapters are you using, which wireless format are you on (b g N etc), and what is the environment like -range from router, other networks nearby etc.

If everything is set up ok, this could simply be an interference problem.

I'm sorry but I don't know about the hardware setup. Someone connected it for us. All I know is that it is a Linksys router. The router is close to one computer (upstairs). The other computer is downstairs at a different end of the house. at the moment both computers are working. They are just very unpredictable which is frustrating. Nale
