Uninstall problems

  wotbus@ 10:19 06 Dec 2005

I installed a free HTML editor called CoffeCup. I have no need for it now but find I cannot uninstall it. From all area's where you would normally uninstall it I get the message "unable to find INSTALL.LOG". I have tried re-installing then then uninstalling but still the same message. The .log to which the error message refers is in fact in the right place! Question is; is it safe just to delete it from program files? Bit loath to do this in case something else goes with it which should'nt :-(

Have you tried uninsatlling it in the Registry? Or in Safe Mode?

Have you tried in Safe Mode?

  wotbus@ 10:33 06 Dec 2005

No luck - just the same. Guess I will have to contact the site for help. Lesson here somewhere ;-(

If that wont work do it in the registry

HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall (and look for the programme you want erased)

OK Doire_Bhoy, I have highlighted the program in Uninstall - do I just right click / delete ?

  Doire_Bhoy 10:57 06 Dec 2005

Yes that should get rid of it.

Have you backed up youre reg first? Have you access to system restore?

  wotbus@ 10:57 06 Dec 2005

OK, will try now.

  wotbus@ 11:05 06 Dec 2005

Hmmm, going from bad to worse! I did the registry deletion then rebooted. The shortcut is still on the desktop and when clicked opens the program!!! If I look in Add/Remove programs the program I want to delete is not listed?
No didnt backup reg first and yes, I have acces to system restore.
