Uninstall AdawareSE

  TonyW2 10:16 31 Dec 2007

Having loaded the new Adaware2007 I cannot uninstall the old version.
Whether I use the control panel/add remove programmes or go via the start/all programmes/AdawareSE/uninstall, I just get a message "Cannot find Install.Log file"
Any further suggestions please?

usually the upgrade deletes the old one, does it come with its own uninstaller?

I thought it would too, but it did not. The new one does have an uninstall option, but only to uninstall itself (the new Adaware2007.)

i would uninstall and reinstall after a reboot and see if it takes it out.

Try this:
Uninstall the 2007 version.
Run CCLeaner Reg Cleaner module.
Then under the CCleaner Tools tab, see if you can remove the Adaware entry from the Add/Remove progs.
Go to Program Files and just delete anything Adaware you see.
Reboot and re-install the 2007v.

PS: A lot of "un-installer" programs need to be installed prior to problems in order to monitor what is installed so it knows what to take out, but this may not be the case with the suggestion of ambra4

Thanks Ambra, but I have just downloaded that program, and that also stops with the "Cannot open Uninstall.Log file" message. Back to square ine!

i had a very similar problem over a scanner and their website dealt with providing an uninstaller for difficult probs, you could try that, or my first suggestion.
