  wetterfugal © 19:49 11 Oct 2005

My McAfee fire wall tels me that a program called Media Gateway wants access to the internet. I do not recognise this program and it resides in my "program files" folder as Media Gateway as a single file called MediaGateway.exe. can anyone tell me what it is?

Thanks for the very promp replies, This is the most blatant spyware I have known. There is usually no evidence that they are trying to access the internet. I do run Adaware and Spybot and there is also an inbuilt spyware in the AOL browser.

I too have this in my Programmes file.
Not in Add/Remove so can't do it that way.
Both Ad Aware and Spybot did not detect it, and I am fully up to date with my definitions etc.
Hijack This does not show any obvious traces either :-(

Please, any simple methods out there?

You might have attracted more attention if you had started your own thread.

Anyway, post your HJT log (NOT your 'click here') on the Malware Removal forum click here

You're right, I did think that afterwards!

Was not aware of that forum!

Will try there.

Many thanks VoG (I always read that as Voice of God!)
