Unallocated Disk Space Reclaim

  BLUELEN 22:32 22 Apr 2005

Daughter's laptop has 9GB approx of unallocated disk space as she deleted the D drive partition. Can I reclaim this space by in Disk management right clicking the unallocated box and clicking new partition or has this space gone for good?

Right click etc.

Is it a primary or extended partition that I want to create? System at present shows C drive at 18.17 GB and the unallocated at 9.77 GB.

Either will do.

But you can create more partitions by chosing extended...although you'll have only 9.77GB to play with.

Sorry to appear thick but the next screen on the partition wizard is now asking for a partition size between the figures of 10001 MB and 8 MB. I find these figures confusing as the unallocated space is 9.77GB.What should I enter? Just want to be sure I'm doing the right thing as I don't want to mess up the C drive partition.

Thanks for your help.

Well enter 10001 to have one partition using the whole 9.77GB.

Or 5000 to use half of the 9.77GB.

[don't worry yourself about the figures]

C partition will not be touched!
