Unable to send emails

When I am connected to the internet on my laptop I am unable to send emails using Thunderbird. I receive emails but just keep getting a box appear to enter my password. I do and then the box disappears but almost immediately re-appears. I can send and receive alright on my web accounts. Can anybody advise me what I could try to rectify this. Thanks.

Have you set the smtp correctly? Usually when that happens it's a problem with the smtp server not recognising the details. Who is your internet service provider?

I don't know too much about Pipex, but should the smtp be something like smtp.dls.pipex.com

According to references on the web the smtp setting is

smtp.dial.pipex.com for dial-up

smtp.dsl.pipex.com for adsl

I have just found an article referring to exactly this problem in the latest PC Advisor. Problem now sorted so thanks for your help.
