Unable to remove Spyware/Adware and viruses

  Dirty Dick 13:14 05 Apr 2006

I am running Windows XP with SP2 on my desktop PC and I have the pop-up blocker turned ON. I keep getting pop-ups and when I have run a scan for problems I am advised that I have viruses, but they are not picked up by AVG anti virus. Other things keep popping up like Spin4dough, but when I go to Add/Remove programmes, it shows up but I can't remove it. Also I get pop-ups from www8.hooowah.com AND a OPTIMXPRO - trojan. Can anybody advise me how to get rid of all these problems

Try removing them in safe mode. Tap F8 on booting to get into safe mode, if that doesn't work, turn System Restore off and try again in safe mode (you will lose all past restore points) don't forget to turn it back on.
Let us know the results.

click here download Ewido, update it first then run it. When you install it untick the "Real Time Scan" and "Auto Update" option. It is then free of charge and you have to update it manually.
