unable to play music cd in media player

  sunny staines 13:05 21 Apr 2008

our daughter tried to play a music cd on our computer but it would only play if quicktime was installed.

i installed latest version and the cd played in its own screen with a small box in the centre of the screen with video this box could not be increased in size to make it worth watching.

there was no option to get the music loaded into mesia player library or playback in media player.

the cd was adams greatist hits.
any advice or is this a new standard?

No we were using it with Windows 98.

A lot of children's PC CD Roms demanded you had it installed a few years ago, rare to see one now though (or is it that my daughter has grown up a bit).

I read the link but does not help with the problem, unistall of QT left 74 reg entries needing fixing.

any other tips please?

Get yourself Jetaudio (it is free).

I am using Jetaudio 6 but it looks like 7 is now the latest version.

Sorry mate slightly misread your post

Real Player will play .mov files (Quicktime)

Open a .mov file from the CD to see how well it works and if you are happy with it
Manually configure Quicktime files to be opened and played by Real Player
Tools>Preferences>Media Types>

the cd opens its own window. cannot access desktop without hitting esc button.

it seems locked into QT only. a waste of a £15 cd

You said it was a Music CD.

Then you say it has video on it.

Is it a VCD?

It should still play with Jetaudio
