unable to format

Having problems formatting hard drive, I go into bios, select cd/dvd drive first in the train, save the changes,put in recovery disc in and click exit,restart computer, disc spins up ok, but computer just starts normally, set up does not appear, if i turn off computer and then on again, and go into bios the cd/dvd drive is still selected, I just cannot format the hard drive,can anyone help

you could....when the boot up scfren comes up press f8 to selct first boot device and see if it works from there...you could mke it boot fromcd by disabling search for other boot devices and disable boot from all the IDE

restart computer, disc spins up ok

There should be a message on the screen press any key to boot from CD.

try just keep tapping the enter key when it boots.

or disble the HDD as a bot dvice in the BIOS.
