I am a real novice but why am I asked to insert new disk when the one I wish to use has ample space available?

Are you using the multisession option?

multissesion is available in nero it enables you to write many times on the same disk continuing from the last burn

I don't know what software you have but when it comes to the burn screen look for something that says something like "allow more files to be added" and make sure the box marked finalise disk isn't ticked. If you need more help please tell us what program you are using to burn the disks.

I`m not 100% certain but if it`s music you are burning, multi-session burning can`t be done.
If it`s jpegs for instance you are burning, make sure it`s burning as data and multi-session should be allowed automatically.

Many thanks. I seem to be using the Sony programme which came with Sony VAIO computer. I happily burn photographs but at the next session, notwithstanding ample disk space, I am always told to insert disk.
