Installed windows XP SP3 ok, installed internet Explorer v7 via microsoft downloads page not windows updates as the windows updates will not download properly or install. it comes up unsuccesfull. No error codes are generated.

I have googled but nothing obviuos to fix it. I did do a clean install of xp which is legit, all running smooth and no error in admin tools system log, clock-date-time set ok, puzzled.

As you have SP3 very few, if any, updates are required.

I get the message that a newer Service Pack is already installed.

The link and instruction from buteman this link click here actually worked !

As said in the discussion section of this article, their will be a large number of people affected by this bug caused by SP3 on XP systems.

Simple fix, Go to Run and type in CMD then click ok. Then at each start of a new line copy in carefully each of the dll file lines pressing enter for each command.

Recomend to read the full article first.

Thanks again buteman & Thanks Stuartli
