Unable to delete a programme - "Protected"

  Dobba 12:50 22 Mar 2003

I have recently installed an old programme (WinFaxLite) to my computer but this is obsolete and no longer supported by the proprietors, which means that I cannot get a registration number and so the programme is useless.
I have tried to delete the programme using Norton Clean Sweep but am receiving an error notice "The File C:\WINFAX\FAXMNG.EXE is protected & cannot be selected."
Thus, I cannot delete the programme (There is no "Uninstaller" with the programme, neither does it appear in "Add/Remove Programmes".
I have not come across this problem before. Can anyone tell me how I "Unprotect" the file so that I can delete the whole programme?

Restart the computer in DOS mode.

del faxmng.exe

exit "or" win

That should remove the offending file for you.

Try starting in safe mode and deleting it.
