unable to burn DVD from new sony Vaio

  sidspock 11:13 03 Oct 2007

I have a Sony Vaio 1.66 ghz, VGN FE21B laptop, with a DVD RW GW-G520A dvd burner.Windows Service pack 2 installed.
I'm Having problems getting the burner to accept any files word doc's,music or movie files to burn on to it. When I explore the drive in control panel, with or without a disc in, it registered that the drive is full, although with no bites of data. Thats the Cd/dvd drive is full. Every time i drag or send any file to the drive with a brand new disc inserted, an error report appears saying windows encountered a problem while copying files to this drive.

Why is this happening?????
