I think that your thread title should read:

"Two Windows updates (for all operating systems) which have been available for some months now"

Available for a few months? Just updated today on XP will check Vista later.

There are two updates for NET framework and IE8 issued today.

Clapton seems to have jumped the gun and mistakenly assumed they were the original NET framework and IE8 releases.

The .NET Framework is a new update as far as I am aware:

The update to .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 for the .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 for Firefox addresses several compatibility issues with version 1.0 of the extension.

It's just over 700kb..

  Stuartli 11:33 24 Jun 2009

I've only had a .NET Framework update - none for IE8.

I use XP Pro.

.NET Installed perfectly, IE8 update gave error code 80071a30. Running Vista.
If you open help and support in the start menu and type that code in it tells you what to do which worked.

  mooly 11:47 24 Jun 2009

That should be error code 8007000b, the other is the code when it tried to install the first time with the .NET update.

"Clapton seems to have jumped the gun and mistakenly assumed ...."

Yep, looks like I did.

Should I shoot myself now or would another member care to do it??

Running Vista Ultimate and got those two as well, even tho Id ticked to hide IE8 the last time it appeared
