TweakNow Reg Cleaner

  Press Man 16:11 23 Sep 2007

Hi Guys,

Just used the above prog from this months cover disc. It found a file, fde.dll. This appears, from a google search, to be an "assist" to a trojan? Can anyone shed any further light on this, as I do not know if I should delete it or not?? Have scanned with SB S & D, AVG Anti Spyware and found nothing. System, XP Sp2, KAV 7, Spysweeper & Zonealarm all are up to date.
Thanks in advance.

It can be found in I386 which means it's a Windows file.

It could relate to a 'Folder Redirection Snapin Extension'.

click here seems to indicate it's optional ('If fde.dll is running...').

Is it the file you've found or a redundant registry entry?

I have done a search on C: (all hidden files and folders) and can not find it at all? Only reference to it is in the registry??

It's only used on XP Pro.

It's compressed, filename will be fde.dl_

Also, some machines (laptops) have smaller i386 folders.

This is what the reg cleaner finds:
Path = HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{88E729D6-BDC1-11D1-BD2A-00C04FB9603F}InprocServer32
Value = fde.dll

If the file isn't on your system then I'd just delete it. If you're unsure just leave it, won't do any harm. Does TweakNow make backups?

Alternatively, you could try downloading it but there's probably little point.

Tweak Now does have a restore facility. I think I will delete it and see what the outcome is!
Thanks for the help.
