My Dad is 250 miles away and trying to install one.
I have never done one and he is having a few problems.
Any pointers or pitfalls to watch out for would be useful.
ie. BIOS changes?

Generally speaking it is just a case of installing it into a PCI slot and loading software - then connect up the sound cable to the sound card.

If your father is using DirectX 9b then he will need this patch click here which fixes tuner problems for non-NTSC tuner cards.

I have had one[a Happauge] in and out of my machine several times.
The installation is straight forward and the software also.
However there can be problems with IRQ conflicts about which nothing can be done as I understand because Windoze makes all the decisions here.
So it depends on the software suite other installed hardware and the demands they are also making of your system.
My opinion is- They are Gizmo's - a clever piece of hardware that are not relly essential to computing - Want to Watch Telly? - then Get a Telly!. Leave computers to do the computing.
