which is a good tv card to get for a newbuild media pc? is it ok to get one inbuilt into a graphics card, if so will it work with windows xp media centre remote control? can i buy the pci tv card in the win tv package on its own?

I have a pinnacle pctv (usb) for my laptop works fine. I know they make them for desktop's as well.
good luck.

Yes, Pinnacle or Hauppauge are both good.

Same question here but which models are best. Hauppauge for instance has about five! Can anyone advise what differences are?

Do you want analogue or freeview digital?

  StainlessStan 10:25 22 Feb 2006

Digital for me.

This is not bad for a laptop on the move, and a pretty good price click here it can be used on a desktop, but i would go for PCI card for that, using a proper arial.
For desktop,Twinhan get good reviews click here

i dont know what i want analogue or digital, what is the difference? is it that analogue uses arials and digital is cable like sky?

  StainlessStan 20:15 22 Feb 2006

No, both types use an arial, but digital cal receive freeview channels such as E4, ITV2 etc whereas an analogue can only receive your standard five channels.

then i would be looking for a digital one. what does the wintv package consist of?

gives good results for a reasonable price. For the R R type have a look at Nebula Electronics DigiTV series, with a slave tuner. Quite expensive, but definitely the business.
