Turned "off" the Link Scanner in my Anti Virus

  wee eddie 12:51 23 Nov 2009

This has speeded up my surfing considerably. In particular ~ this site.

But the question is:

If I am not visiting many sites, out-with my usual round, and definitely not following e-mail links.

What level of risk have I added?

I don't think you are exposed to any additional risks.

The Linkscanner in AVG simply scans ahead, using additional bandwidth and distorting site statistics of websites, warning of potential risks in links.

But if you visited one of the pages the AV would kick in and protect you anyway.

Yes thats the one.It does the same job as the link scanner. It puts a little circle on your toolbar which changes color when you go to a bad site.
make sure you choose the correct one as there is one for I/E and one for Firefox.

Click on AVG > Overview Page > click on Link Scanner > un-tick the Settings > Later, if you are happy with the result > click "Ignore the state of this" This will remove the Unprotected warning
