Trying to remove programs

  jake2 15:07 02 Jan 2007

I have a few programs that need removing form my pc as they are corrupt or are no longer required. A couple are causing problems.
One is the Nokia software for my phone. The program will not run and I get the message
"some of the application resources could not be located. Please reinstall this application"
I tried to reinstall but it wouldnt work.
Tried to delete any file with the name Nokia bit I was told the some files could not be deleted as they were protected and access was denied.
Another program shows on the program list but shows no size and wont allow me to reinstall it.
Any easy way to remove these things (short of a reformat)XP home

ok I downloaded the program suggested and used it to gain access to and delete the two remaining files in the nokia folder.
When I tried to access the "add remove programs" option in control panel to check if this had worked, it wouldnt open!
I ran registry mechanic to see if that would help, and it threw up over 300 registry errors. I have restored the computer back to the way it was.
Any idea what I did wrong and what to do next?
