buteman, thanks that's the one.

Is it any good?

Looks a pretty decent Starter rig, for the price I reckon good enough.

Depends on what you want to do with it. I sell Acer machines and they are pretty reliable, A Semperon model with low end graphics like this is the sort of PC we would sell to students who just wnat to Word process, web browse and do the basics.

If you want to get into digital photo's, play games and the like, then it's really not for you. Price is pretty good though for what is an acceptable workhorse.

Well, what I have now is:

Athlon XP2900+, 1gb ram, Nvidia Geforce FX5200 graphics and Win XP SP2.

It is becoming very slow. Most programs take over 37 seconds to load.

I use Ccleaner about twice a week, followed by Advanced Windows Care and then Auslogics Defrag.

I don't play games but I am in the process of transferring all my VHS and Beta tapes to DVD.

I use Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop 7 quite a lot.

Hmm, I thought that perhaps you were thinking of something for a beginner. I don't think it would satisfy your needs as it is.

It's a great little tool for checking your hard drive space.

This could well be even better for slightly less:

Thanks Stuartli.

Although I'm not a fan of Intel (prefer AMD) it looks a pretty good deal, especially the "no operating sytem" bit.

Having a think about it.
