While hoping that Gudgulf's posting will cure your problem,I would advise a bit of caution when trying to install older programs on XP Pro.I had the same circumstances as you,and used Roxio CD creator for two years on my PC.After installing a new hard drive when mine broke down I got a warning saying Roxio was not supported(or something similar).I went ahead anyway and totally locked up my PC.Although I can cope with most things ,I could not get round this and it cost me £35 to get an expert to sort it for me.
