Trouble saving xslx files

  JayDay 18:24 14 Jan 2009

I am having trouble saving Excel files in the xlsx format.

When I fist save the document there is no prblem however when I come to save changes then I get the error message "Your changes could not be svaed to 'xxxxx.xlsx' because of a sharing violation. Try saving to a different file."

It only happens when I try to save the file in the My Documents folder, I have tried saving the file on my external hard drive and don't get the message.

It is only happening to xlsx files, I can save the document as xls.

Any ideas?

Could be caused by anti-virus software. The
anti-virus software locks the temp file that Excel creates as the first step
in saving a workbook while it scans it. The temp file doesn't get unlocked
quickly enough so Excel throws a sharing violation error. Try disabling all
your dynamic anti-virus scanning and see if the problem goes away.
