Trouble burning cd's and dvd's

For some reason I can no longer burn files onto a cd or dvd in win xp in the normal way.

I used to insert a blank cd/dvd then up pops the window/menu, you could then copy and paste or drag and drop your files or use send-to, the blank disc menu window, but now I can't copy and paste anymore (it just won't past) I can drag and drop and send-to and the files appear in the window and it says "Files Ready To Be Written To This CD" but when you click on the "write these files to cd" button nothing happens.

The only way I can get my pc to burn a disc cd or dvd is to click on "my computer" and drag and drop the files into the cd rewrite drives icon shown in my computer then I right click and from the menu select write files to cd it all works ok!!!

Can anyone help?

sounds like autoplay is disabled or nolonger working.

Autoplay Repair Wizard click here

Autoplay disable/enable
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
2. Locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom
3. To disable automatically running CD-ROMs, change the Autorun value to 0 (zero). To enable automatically running CD-ROMs, change the Autorun value to 1.
4. Restart your computer.

I have looked at the reg key and the cdrom has a value of 1 so that is ok?

under the reg key you asked me to look at it says - AutoRunAlwaysDisable - and the value of this key is -

NEC MBR-7
NEC MBR-7.4
PIONEER CHANGR DRM-1804X
PIONEER CD-ROM DRM-6324X
PIONEER CD-ROM DRM-624X
TORiSAN CD-ROM CDR_C36

I only have two cdroms and both are nec?

Can you suggest I try anything else?
