turn system restore off and then back on.

After turning off system restore (right click My computer select properties and system restore tab) you must reboot run avg reset system restore and then reboot again.

I WILL DO THAT NOW. CHEERS!!

  JonnyTub 15:46 20 Oct 2004

why, avg has already dealt with the problem, the trojan was simply being detected in sys restore which by turning on and off deletes it and creates a new uninfected restore point.

Also i don't understand why you need to reboot upon switching sys res back on.

Sorry if I'm being a bit thick here :-)

a well i did it anyhow and it seems to have worked - cheers!!

I dont think that just turning off system restore will delete the restore files. Avg had detected the trojan but as restore files are protected it could not delete it.

By turning off sys restore, you do delete all restore points and the files associateed with them. In switching back on, sys restore automatically creates a new restore point.
