Trojan - fact or fiction

  cocteau48 08:55 22 May 2007

I have been testing BOClean from Commodo and this morning when I booted up I got the following popup from BOClean:
05/22/2007 06:54:51: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\AEC.SYS
Trojan horse was found in above file
Logged in user: ***********
Active trojan horse was shut down. System now safe.
Trojan horse was removed, registry cleaned.

Rebooted and got the same message again.
Ran AVG and Superantispyware - both found nothing.
I am also running Spyware Terminator for real time protection - nothing there either.

Rebooted again - no popup this time.Has it gone?

Googling for the above would indicate that it is something to do with games or gaming websites neither of which I have any interest in and have never been on. So I start to question as to whether this popup is genuine or is it scaremongering by BOClean. "Look how good we are" type of thing.

Has anyone else come across this warning and do you have any theories about it.

Apologies in advance that I will not be able to respond to any postings until later today - just off to earn a crust!

click here for an online scan from Panda Antivirus.

Doing a Google search came up with nothing.

It looks like a false positive that has now been fixed: click here

Thank you to both recap and beynac.
Certainly looks like a false positive and that I seem to have got off lightly with it only recurring once as some on the Commodo forum are getting the same popup time and again.
If nothing else it just proves what a ruddy marvelous forum this is.
Thanks again to you both and I will tick as resolved.
