Has anybody got any tips on the easiest method of transferring information from old to new computer which uses Millennium to new which uses XP Home?

Thank you

Canute, what information do you want to transfer?

Have you looked at the File and Transfer wizzard in XP? Does a nice quick and simple job.

1. Take the drive out of the old PC, fit it to the new one as a slave, drag & drop in Explorer

2. Use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard ib XP

3. Network them and transfer them over

4. Copy to CD

All of these will work, it depends on your specific situation as to which is best, e.g. will you have access to both PCs at once, are you OK with installing a new drive, setting up a network, etc.

WHatever method you use, you will not be able to just reuse your existing programs - they will need to be re-nstalled, so that they are integrated into the new Registry on the XP PC

Same info, just spell-checked this time :)

3. Network them and transfer them over

4. Copy to CD

All of these will work, it depends on your specific situation as to which is best, e.g. will you have access to both PCs at once, are you OK with installing a new drive, setting up a network, do you have a CD writer, etc.

Whatever method you use, you will not be able to just reuse your existing programs - they will need to be re-installed, so that they are integrated into the new Registry on the XP PC
