transfering files

Going to upgrade my ME desktop to XP as this is more powerful then the w98SE I am using at the moment.

All my files are on the w98se pc that I need to more over to the xp.

I have an external usb hard drive caddy that I could use.

My question is would there be any problems as this HD that contains the data also as the W98SE OS on it

I did think about getting a crossover cable but I didn't think that would work for me as I have only one monitor and that would be used by the xp.

If it is only data files that you want to transfer, you will have no problems.

Create a new folder on the external drive called, for exammple, transfers

Copy the contents of "my documents" to this and then connect to XP machine.

then copy from external drive to XP machine

There should be no problem having the Win98 OS on it.
