Transfer Outlook 2002 Email Setting to new PC

Hello one and all.

Having recently purchased a new PC I am looking to transfer my Outlook 2002 settings to my new machine (which also has Oulook 2002).

I have tried to export the settings (as an .iaf file) but the import (on e-mail accout window) fails due to an unspecified 'error' on the new machine.

Furthermore, I have tried to use the import command through the 'file' menu. It claims it cannot find any settings though it does not ask where to look.

Pretty frustrating - any help and/or advice would be gratefully received!

Although I'm familiar with Outlook 2000 isn't the file a *.pst one?

I have successfully tranferred the .pst file you referred to - it has my inbox, sent items etc.

What i cant seem to get is the POP3 account settings etc.

Is this also somewhere in the .pst file?

You need to write down and enter the settings from Tools, Accounts, Properties, Servers. This includes the pop and smptp settings.

In my case this is:

pop.freeserve.com

smtp.freeserve.com

as an example.

Thanks everyone for all your help.

Finally got to the end of the problem - it was mainly due to problems accessing sub-accounts etc. Got it sorted after several long and, nedless to say, very expensive calls to BTYahoo.

Better than broken though!
