Transfer files from one PC to another.

I have just bought a new PC and I want to transfer files documents pictures etc from my old PC to my new one.
How can I do this ? My old PC does not have a CD writer so I can't do it that way. Is there a cable I can buy that allows me to do this cheaply? Both PC's have USB.

Thanks Fatbelly

Yes you can buy exactly that as a kit including CD (for less aware O/S).

A bit expensive for one off but very straight forward.

An external USB HD is something which will cost more, but be useful over and over again.

There are other ways like hanging the old HD onto the new temporarily as an extra HD, only recommended if you like doing this sort of thing

Followd the links but they only show usb to usb cable - what software if any is required to transfer the files.
