Touch Pad on an Acer

The touch pad on my sisters 4 year old laptop is staring to play up.
Anyway to repair it?
Quick & Easy would be preferred!

Getting a lot of ear ache about it not working properly!!!

It depends on the make/model - if you can find a new part they can be replaced fairly easily (again -depends on the model) but it will involve taking the laptop apart to some extent which is a much more complex job than a desktop - if you are not used to working on laptops it is a job for a repair shop.

The easiest and cheapest option is to just use an external mouse (USB or PS2 depending on what connectors the machine has)

Yep, well it could be an external mouse in future.
I would take it apart & play (fix it) if it was a customers, but as it's my sisters if anything went wrong i would hear about it for the next 10 years!!

Already contacted Acer re: a new touch pad, but costs are high on it as it's a 4 year old laptop!

May just get her a decent USB Rodent!!!
