My daughter has this particular laptop, which was an expensive model when she purchased it in 2004.
She is having a problem with the screen - it doesn't come on initially but if she hits a combination of FN key and one other (which I can't remember) then the screen becomes active again. Anyone know what setting we can go to in order for the screen to come on - when we switch on. I think this blank screen may be a security device?

Any recommendations appreciated

Go into the BIOS, set default/primary display to LCD.
F2 or F8 at boot up to access BIOS, look for text at the bottom of the screen if those don't work.
