Toshiba Equium laptop needs repairing

This laptop is 3 years old and cost around £400. Recently I've found that the 2 USB ports at the rear have been damaged and are useless. One is directly above the other. I've never banged or dropped the machine so I've no idea how it's happened. Would it be simple to have repaired or am I looking at a replacement board or something?

Marg7, yes it has another port on the side. I've tried a cheap and cheerful hub from China with not very good results. Would a more expensive one give better performance? The one I tried wouldn't download from a digital camera, the printer would work but erratically.

The ports will have come loose on their solder on the motherboard, a simple repair to resolder them.

However the cost will be in stripping the laptop down to get at them.
