My hard drive and floppy drive lights are on all the time. Furthermore, my floppy drive isn't working.

Any ideas?

Cables on the motherboard on the wrong way round??

Thanks for the suggestion. It turned out to be a faulty floppy drive. Replaced it with another and all is well.

Have decided to do without a floppy drive rather than buy a new one.

Floppies are a bit of a waste of time in modern machines. On the few machines I have that are fitted with floppy drives, they never get used. What's the point? Todays programs and files are so large that you would need a van load of floppy disks for the most simple of records.

Imagine WXP on floppies!{;-)

Hi Ed, it was useful for putting stuff on for my dughter to take to university. The stuff will now go on CDs.

I still find floppies the quickest and easiest way to transfer work from college to home for working on.

If youir floppy light remains lit, it COULD be that you floppy cable is "back to front".

Make sure the red side goes to pin 1
