Too many 'advert type' emails.

  geedad 20:01 14 Mar 2008

I am using IE 6, and I am seeing a gradual increase in the number of 'advert type' emails.
These appear to be harmless, some are nonsensical, some are from loan companies, but all are unrequested and unwanted.
I thought I had enough software to prevent these coming through, and although I use a very good program called Mailwasher (free), which intercepts the emails so that I can view them first, I would prefer not to be receiving the emails at all.The programs I have are as follows:
Advanced WindowsCare v2 personal,
SpyBot Search and Destroy
AVG antispyware
AVG 7.5 anti-virus
Glary Utilities
Most are free.
Anyone help,please?

"I would prefer not to be receiving the emails at all"

Wouldn't we all!

Two possible solutions:

Change your e-mail address every day. That way, with a bit of luck, the spammers won't be able to latch on to your address.

Don't use e-mail at all - that way you'll never receive spam.

Add them to your blacklist in mailwasher, there is a manual or auto set...
Apart from mfletch's suggestion
the only other way is as Clapton is God has suggested, write letters...
