.tmp file deletion

Morning all!

Just did a search for all files on my PC as .tmp
It has turned up 154 MB worth of them and all seem fairly 'deletable'. Should I be careful with any of them or is it safe to press the button? ;-)

Regards,

Nick

If you are sure they all have the extension of .TMP or.tmp then yes its safe to delete

my rule of thumb with temp files is to view details (no file menu, click vew/details)

click the heading over the dates to sort into date order, then select ALL .tmp files EXCEPT for todays dated files. then press the delete button.

sometimes it may not remove them, this is due to one or more files being in use. in this case, start at the bottom and select about 20 files and delete them, keep going till you are left with only a few files. (i am using Zone Alalrm pro and it uses the temp folder for its reference files, you cannot delete them.)

Good advice from paperman27 and yes to Temp.anything

Well ok, I shall go ahead then as there are no entries for today.

Thank you both very much.

It's always so good here :-)

Hmmmm,

It cleared about ten of a hundred and the rest are stuck there with the error:

Cannot Delete File
Cannot read from the source file or disc.

Any bright ideas? :-)

A re-boot will probably have the desired effect
