Tiny Notebook 755SI4 USB problem

  griffo245 20:20 15 Dec 2005

My Tiny Notebook 755SI4 has lost all the USB ports, they don't show up in the device manager and windows can't find them.

There is no BIOS option to enable or disable them.

On bootup it says usb controller has been initialized but it still won't find them.

Any ideas???

Could be the onboard fuse blown, if it is no way to get them back.

Force XP to show hidden devices

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session ManagerEnvironment]
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: (1 = show all hidden devices)

You could fit a PCMCIA USB card click here

It now shows the USB as hidden, it says hardware disconnected (code 45) but if you plug a USB device in it will power up but will not be recognised.

Is this definitly a blown fuse?
Would a BIOS update help?

Help from Msoft??

Code 45
Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

Recommended resolution

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

The device is not present or was previously attached to the computer. If Device Manager is started with the environment variable DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES set to 1 (which means show these devices), any previously attached (NONPRESENT) devices are displayed in the device list and assigned this error code.

No resolution is necessary.

There is no BIOS option to enable or disable them.

There should always be something in BIOS regarding USB
