Ticked Off With Tapping

Hi Guys,
I have a 3 year old ACER 2700 laptop running XP Pro, apart from a few probs over the years it has served me well. A few weeks ago for no aparant reason tapping the mouse pad to simulate a left click has been enabled, this feature bugs me rotten and was the first thing I disabled from new, its simple to do but now after a re-boot or return from stand by tapping is automaticaly enabled.

any Ideas welcomed.

You could try re-installing the driver. Go to Start>right click My Computer>Properties>Hardware tab>Device Manager, expand 'Mice and other pointing devices', right click driver>Uninstall. A reboot should re-install it and then you could try disabling tapping again.

I have the same problem on an HP about a year old, except that mine has been there from new. As you say it really is a pain, particular if you just happen to be hovering over some tasteless advert!
