Tick in Excel spreadsheet cell

I have an Excel speadsheet where I would like to place a "Tick" (manually) in a cell when certain conditions have been met.
Can anyone help me?

If it is conditional, you could also use conditional formatting and wingdings or monotype sorts font to insert tick based on criteria. Eg with monotype sorts you could insert "4" which will display as tick or "8" which displays as x
