Thunderbird problems after Virgin upgraded virginmedia

I use Thunderbird for e-mails, better than virginmedia. It used to work properly but now I find e-mails which I can see in my virginmedia in-box, deo not all arrive in my Thunderbird in-box. How can I make sure all my e-mails are delivered to my Thunderbird in-box please?

Look in your spam box on Virginmedia. They are a bit overenthusiastic about filtering out what they think is Spam. There doesn't seem to be any consistent rules about what they filter. Sometimes an email from a sender will get through sometimes not. Usually its the commercial ones that they stop, and I haven't found a reliable way to ensure they get it right.

Can you disable Virgin's spam filtering and see if the problem is solved. I have user level spam filtering by Mailwasher which I have found to excellent.
