thin horizontal line on laptop screen

Wondering if anyone can help?

My Toshiba laptop has developed a thin horizontal line across the whole width of the screen, about halfway down.

SOmetimes the line is there when I switch on, sometimes it is not.

When it is there, if I swivel the laptop lid up and down it goes away then after 10 seconds gradually returns.

Any ideas what might be causing it, and if this is something I can fix myself (how??) or does it have to go to the shop.

It's no longer under guarantee.

I suspect there is an dry break/lose connection causing an intermittant connection for that line between your screen and the laptop. Probably not fixable at home you'll need to get this looked at professionally.
